A race without suprises, because the positions at half of the race are exactly the same than at the finish line. The riders are all slower by a minute on the second lap, except Marc Ernster who is very regular. But even he looses time on Ronny Kremer who was clearly the best today.
Summary of the road-race espoirs:
km 0 Start is at 14h00. 18 espoir riders take off for 9 laps (135 km), togehter with 32 elite riders.
km 15 Most of the riders are still with the elite bunch. The race starts slowly.
3rd lap Some attacks from elite riders. A lot of espoirs are dropped from the peloton, but the main favorites are still there.
5th lap After some accelerations, only 3 riders remain in the bunch with the best elite: the riders from Dippach Gressnich, Didier and Kremer. Marc Ernster and Joe Kirch are in a group not far away. Ben Wurth, another favorite, has abandoned.
7th lap The 3 riders from Dippach are still in front of the race, a little bit behind the first elite group. Laurent Didier seems to be less strong than his teammates, but he manages to stay with them.
8th lap Laurent Didier is dropped.
Ronny Kremer drops also Patrick Gressnich in the côte de Syren and begins the last lap on his own.
9th and last lap Kremer increases the gap on the chasers.
Laurent Didier is caught and then dropped by Ernster, Kirch and Philippe Herman trying to catch also Gressnich.
km 135 Ronny Kremer is Luxemburgish Espoir Champion 2003.
Patrick Gressnich stays in 2nd place.
Marc Ernster wins the sprint for the bronze medal.
